HoboLand as seen on Amazon Books.
AUTHOR STACY NIX
Read all about the Homeless in Palm Springs.   See how Hobo Mike helps build HoboLand. Follow Charlotte and Danny as they build a new life for themselves.  Can you image yourself or a loved one living on the streets.  Just imagine your child sleeping on a curb.  We see them everyday, but how can we help them.  A friend of mine was walking through a park one day with his dog and saw a man sitting in a wheelchair slumped over.  Other people were walking by him and just looking at him and ignoring the fact that maybe he might need help.  This friend of mine stopped and tapped this person on the shoulder to say, hay man are you OK.   As he tapped him he got no response, so he called 911.  When they got there it was too late he was dead.  Had someone helped him sooner it might of saved his life.   Kudos to my friend, and you know who your are, MK.

Bob Hope's House is on the Market for $24,999 Million

Celebrity Homes in Palm Springs:
Want to take a trip down memory Lane in Palm Springs, California?  I sold Real Estate in Palm Springs for many years.   I had my own Boutique Real Estate Company, "Nix Realty" so I was fortunate to tour and meet some of the local Celebrities and see the inside of their homes.    Many have moved, died, many still live here, and some come to visit for "The Palm Springs Film Festival," each year.  You can drive by some of these, said to be, previous homes of the stars such as Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker.  They had a former home at 688 Verda Sur, Palm Springs and Kirk Douglas had a home at 515 Via Lola, Palm Springs.  You can go by the former Warner Brothers Estate at 1050 Cahuilla, Palm Springs. The four brothers  launched a studio in 1923.  Jack Warner had a heart attack , they say, and died there.

Sidney Sheldon who wrote, "I dream of Jeanie," and many international bestsellers lived at 425 Via Lola and his neighbor was Winthroop Rockefeller who lived at 467 Via Lola.  He was the Governor of Arkansas.  If you remember  Spencer Tracy and Kathryn Hepburn they had a desert hideaway at 776 Mission.  George Hamilton in the late 70's had a home at 591 Patencio.  Once you could see his signature in the right side of the driveway.

I love to look at the  Al Jolson home.  The star of the first talkie, "The Jazz Singer." It is at 570 Grand Via Valmonte.  I once went out to lunch with Kenneth Anger's the author of Hollywood Babylon, who also lived at the Estate.  Oh yes, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell had a vacation getaway home at 550 Via Lola.   So many more...Anyhow, just saying, there are lots of Celebrities that once lived in Palm Springs.  Oh yes, I do believe Leonardo DiCaprio just bought a home in the Palm Springs Area.  And I can't forget when I met Joseph Cotton in his home.  It was for sale and he was very sick.  His wife answered the door for my showing and told me that he would be in their bedroom.  As I walked into their bedroom he greeted me in a very fancy "Hollywood Smoking Jacket," and of course a nice pair of slacks.   He had all his make up on and was such a lovely man.  I didn't sell his home, but I sure did enjoy meeting him. Most people won't remember him, but I do as my Mother watched his black and white movies and talked about his films. My Dad would go out to the local Denny's with his friends and they would share a booth with him.  Good memories.  Of course Bob Hope had a home in Palm Springs  at Southridge.    It is now on the market for $24,999  Million.  It has 10 Bedrooms, 13 baths, 23,366 square feet, designed by John Lautner. And Don't forget, Barry Manilow, Liberace, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. Just to name a few.

"Situation Maid" by Stacy Nix "VS The Butler"

My Dear Readers,
Yesterday, on an assignment re my agent Diana of Hartline Literary Agency, my Husband and I went to see the movie, “THE BUTLER”. Diana wanted me to see it and see how it compared to my book, “SITUATION MAID”.

I saw ‘THE BUTLER” as assigned.

Going into the movie, I was apprehensive. I did not expect to enjoy it.   I was taken by surprise and totally did.  From the beginning to the end it had me hooked.  The acting performances were all superb.  It had a strange twist to it.  I felt I was watching it through an African American eye.  It flew through the Presidents in an interesting manner.  As I cried at one part, I noticed the man sitting next to me was also crying.  Forrest Whitaker portrayed “THE BUTLER” and also a proud husband and father.  My husband and I seemed to both thoroughly enjoy this one and walked away making many comparisons to my new book, “SITUATION MAID”.

“SITUATION MAID,” is the true life story of Lillie Nelson and a wonderful flip to the movie “THE BUTLER”.  As an orphan, at 5 years of age Lillie worked in the cotton fields. When Lillie was 12 years old, she was raped and had her son taken away from her.  Going from one desperate situation to another, she finds work as a housekeeper and advances from job to job.

The Steak Lady fed Lillie hamburger while she served her children steak, and she had to use margarine for herself and butter for the children in her care.  Lillie didn’t go to school and she couldn’t read or write.  When Lillie decided to quit this job she sat down and wrote the Steak Lady a letter with the help of a cookbook with pictures, so she could write correctly the words hamburger, steak and butter. The next job had Lillie cleaning floors on her hands and knees while the owner threw water on her and called her foul names. Yet Lillie always kept her pride and her head up.

Lillie improved her housekeeping skills and went from working as a maid to running a household for a very prominent family, in charge of all the maids and housekeepers. She became very well known among the Rich Socialites.

Lillie later decides to move to California where she finds work as a Hotel Maid. She uses all of her gained skills in redecorating the hotel’s rooms as well as teaching the other maids how to do a better job.  Lillie decided she would find employment with the richest people she could and through an Employment agency finds a fit with Mrs. Milner, a rich widow in Beverly Hills. While working for Mrs. Milner, Lillie is introduced to Mrs. Reagan. After Mrs. Milner passes away Lillie is invited to work for President and Mrs. Reagan.

Many splendid meals were prepared by Lillie for the Regan’s, from simple to grand occasions and family celebrations. After her retirement Lillie and Mrs. Regan kept in touch. Lillie attended Pres. Regan’s 80th birthday party and Nancy called her to let her know that their dog Rex had passed away. Lillie and Rex had been especially close, sharing a wink or two between them.

I do believe that Lillie Nelson, from “SITUATIN MAID,” and Eugene Allen, “THE BUTLER” must have known each other.

Stay tuned to my Blog for more updating information on this.

Getting your Book ready to Publish

Stacy Nix
Writing a book is a wonderful experience, by Stacy Nix
When I mention to someone that I have written a
book, and I am getting ready to release it soon, they
look at me as if they want to get my autograph.  I am so honored and humbled to have had the gift to write.

It goes back many years for me.  I didn't just wake up one day and say "I want to become a writer."  It is in my blood.  It was a true gift from God.   I began writing small things.   It started for me in about 6th grade.  I loved to read and would take a flash light to bed so I could read under the covers. Soon I would take a pencil and paper under the sheets and try to rewrite some of the stories or add on to them.

As years went by and I left college, I was in the
work force.  THE VIETNAM WAR  was in full force and everyone was working, going to collage or in the service.  Young men were drafted at that time.

I wanted to be a War Correspondent, but I didn't have the credentials.   I was only
20 something, at the time, and working in a "Trust Department" of a bank.    The best I could do at the time was to send cameras and film to Vietnam and get them  back and develop the photo's.   I shared them with the newspapers, but you never knew what they would use and they didn't care about paying you for them.  Sometimes I would see similar photo's  I was developing, in the newspapers, but I really couldn't take the credit for the Photos, as I never knew for sure if anyone used them. I didn't really care at the time, as long as the public could see what was going on in the War.   With two soldiers from  Vietnam and another lady I wrote a story about the War while listing to the song, by the Hollies, "He Ain't Heavy  He's My Brother".   Someday I plan on getting that published.  It was a beginning for me that kept me writing.    After writing copy for advertising for many companies, and writing my Real Estate Advertisements and Real Estate Newsletters,  I worked for Fox News Radio and many other grateful businesses. I decided this was my love.  I had creative writing classes in collage, among other majors such as psychology, ugh....and experience behind me, so I pursued writing on the side.  In the future I was blessed to meet a magnificent Lady that knew the Reagan's.  She knew that I had written a screen play about Alzheimer's and took it to Nancy Reagan.  After Nancy told her that she liked it, Lillie my friend asked me to write a book about her life including the Reagan's. That is my baby, "Situation Maid."   It takes a long time to do a  book.  You have your initial drafts, your additions,  your deletes, your spelling and grammar and corrections etc.
Sometimes it is like moving a mountain to get someone to even look at your work.
After sending out proposals to Agents and many rejection letters I was blessed to have been picked up by a wonderful Agent.  I had to turn down a few offers in the beginning because they didn't feel comfortable to me.   I was blessed with my match and my Agent
matched me up with a wonderful Publishing Co... A match made in Heaven including a
outstanding Editor.  So now we are in the last part of our edits and will soon be going to
our release period.    I have left out so much, so you can fill in the blanks... I only want to encourage anyone that is a writer to keep on with your writing and never give up.
When I sit down to write I never know where it is going to end, just like this article.
I almost sit down with my eyes shut and let my fingers do the work.   Its  a gift I say.....
Thank You for reading.
Please let me know if I can be of any help to you in your writing adventure.

I must say that I am very blessed by my husband, John, (Elvis's Cousin)   He has encouraged me through the years and always blows the horn for me........
I love to help others.

Elvis Presley John and Stacy at the Estate

Elvis Presley is John's Cousin.  We toured the Elvis Estate in Palm Springs.  We left the genealogy notes we received on Mourning Dove White. (Elvis and John's Grandmother)  The earliest female that can be traced with certainty in Elvis's maternal bloodline, and she is his great-great-great grandmother.  Mourning Dove, a full-blooded Cherokee Indian.
This makes John Lisa Marie's Uncle;  And of course I am her Aunt....... Very interesting.  If you would be interested in more of this wonderful story please email me at mycomedy2@yahoo.com  for more information.

"Situation Maid" What a wonderful Book

SITUATION MAID

Lillie Nelson, the maid that worked for the Reagan's.

This book, "Situation Maid, " is about an African American woman, Lillie Nelson, who started out in life with nothing but herself, and ended up with great dignity. A poor orphan that worked in the cotton fields at 5 years of age and had no mother or father and basically raised herself.

"Situation Maid " illustrates through Lillie's story how the blacks were treated in the south, using the 'N" word and how horrific they were looked down upon as second class citizens. This woman teaches herself how to read from looking at pictures in cookbooks. This book illustrates how anyone can start out in life as a lost soul and end up with dignity and happiness and hope.

It reminds us that money can't buy you love and how God works miraculously in our lives each day to lead us to his Kingdom.

In the beginning of the book Lillie told the author, Stacy Nix, "Don't cry for me for I have lived a wonderful life and I find great pleasure in telling you my story. " Lillie's life story will teach others to be thankful for what they have, and to reach for the moon and the star's in whatever your circumstances may be.

"Situation Maid," was a story told by Lillie Nelson to Stacy Nix, while Lillie was working for the Reagan's. Stacy would interview Lillie daily and record some of the interviews. There are many tapes, video recordings and an interview done by CBS of Stacy and Lillie while writing the book.

It was not unusual to see Lillie jumping into a Limo with her home made pies, home made bread, on her way to the Reagan's. Lillie would stand outside the gate of her Condo development with her uniform on, covered with a long coat, white gloves, a fabulous hat, two large sets of luggage and patiently wait for the Limo driver to arrive. Then she would dash off to the Reagan's ranch ready to accommodate Mrs Reagan's wish for
her secret custard pumpkin pie.

If you like to laugh while you read, and get chills down your spine, I suggest that you read this book.

The readers of "Situation Maid " will take away a new vision for life. This story will heal peoples hearts by this heart wrenching story. Situation maid has the powerful ability to last through centuries with energy to stimulate the minds of many people.

The book ends with many favorite recipes of Lille's including one of Mrs. Reagan's favorite birthday dinners and President Reagan's favorite meat dinners and various photos illustrating the same.

ENJOY EACH MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE AS IF IT WAS YOUR LAST.

Life is so short.

I just woke up, and it is time to go to bed. You ask, "what did she mean by that statement." Well, yesterday is gone. All we really have of yesterday is its memories. You can't go back, but you can enjoy each moment in time, if you focus on what is happening good in you life. Think back twenty years, if you are old enough. Where were you at that time? What were you doing? Who were you with. Time goes faster than we think. Many days there just isn't enough hours in the day. My point is, enjoy each moment of your life, as if it was your last.
